Children are an amazing gift from God. A family without children will have sleepless nights contemplating when they will have one.

 It is imperative to understand the nature of children hence light them up all the time you spend with them. 

 Here are important things about children you shouldn't miss to do from the time they are born.

1.Play

A saying goes that:all work without play makes Jack a dull boy.Dont want a dull baby,do you? Absolutely not!

After birth up to one week you should ensure that you provide ways for your baby to; see,hear,move arms and legs freely and touch you.

Secondly,hold your child skin to skin.This will help your child develop a sense of mutual closeness to you all the time.As result,they will always put a smile whenever you hold them.

From six months onwards,give the child safe household items to handle.They can also bang or drop them.Such items include:spoons and simple toys.

However,put away harmful items such as kitchen knife,they are likely to stab themselves in the process of play.

Furthermore,you can hide a child's favorite toy under a cloth and see whether the child can find it.

The child will look for the toy.If It fails to find it you,can assist the baby find it by pointing towards the toy,or throw something to where  the toy is hidden as a clue and prompt the baby's eyes to follow. 

In addition, probably  at age two and older,help your child count ,name and also compare items.

For instance, you can make simple toys of different colours and shapes. Thus, encourage the child to sort out items of different shapes and colors.

2.Communication

This is another vital factor that you MUST gladly take into consideration.

 At the time of breastfeeding,keep an eye contact with that of your baby and talk to your baby.You should note that even a new born baby sees your face and hears your voice.

Also smile and laugh with your child.Converse with your child by copying the sounds or gestures.This will motivate your child to keep conversing with you by  sounds and gestures.

At age nine months onwards,tell the names of things and people to your baby.You can show them how to say things with hands like' Hi' bye.

Also ask your child some simple questions and respond to the child's attempt to talk.

From age two onwards,encourage your child  to talk. 

Comfortably teach your child songs and stories.Let them look at pictures and help them talk about the pictures.
